There are a lot of great cars out there, some great cars have their lives extended into generations that just dont meet an expected standard. 2nd gen Mustangs, the C4 Corvette, the W220 S class, and the E65 7 series all come to mind. But which one doesnt deserve the shit it gets?

NADM E36 M3. Still a fantastic car, even though it isn't nearly as good as EU spec. I've been in one, and it still pulls.

C3 Corvette. The later 305 models with slushbox-only were crummy. But up until about 1975, they were pretty great.

MK4 Jetta/Golf/Beetle. I've heard they're plagued with problems, but mine is always in running order. There sure are a lot on the road too.

Yes, they were not that dependable. But to me this was the first attempt of VW to become a more upmarket brand than its competitors. And it gave the R32.

I came here to say S3 Jaguar E-Types.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The S1 cars are, as we all know, absolute classics. The S2 cars were also largely fine, even though 2/3 of the coupes were 2+2s...but it was still basically the sports car it was when it was introduced.

Then there's the S3. Bigger, bloated, V12ed. Gone was the sleek fixed-head-coupe, the only closed top you could get was the awkward and bulbous 2+2. The roadsters are...okay looking.

See, the problem is that this is the car I came here to defend, and I really still just want to tear it apart. They're good cars, they really are! As soon as you accept that it's a tourer and not a sports car, and you get yourself used to that stupid fucking flat nose and the Titanic-sized wheelbase, and that big ridiculous greenhouse...calm down C-M, calm down...okay...I'm okay.

Nope, can't do it. Fuck the S3 E-Type. They took the best looking car ever built:

Agreed - I've ridden along in a few at Laguna Seca and they were unexpectedly almost vomit-inducingly fast around that track. It's an excellent car.

But then...just stop and think what basically E46 M3 levels of power in the mid 90s would've been like in the E36...I can't even imagine. It's a shame not because it was a bad car, but because there was a significantly crazier version of it at the exact same time, elsewhere.

I reeeeeally want a C4. Many a races I won in Gran Turismo because of it.

On another note my old man will finally hit Corvette age this year (50) and he plans on getting a C5. Can't wait til he goes on vacations so I can make sure the car gets its needed "exercise" while he's away.
